Magma Design Automation develops software for electronic design automation (EDA), enabling integrated circuit designers to meet critical time-to-market objectives, improve chip performance and handle multimillion-gate designs. With headquarters in Silicon Valley and a global network of sales & support personnel, Magma customers include leading semiconductor companies around the world.
"To create and deliver the best EDA software products and solutions, encompassing IC design from concept to completion, enabling our customers' commercial success."
The makers of integrated circuits look to EDA software to help them design and manufacture complex electronic devices. As ICs, ASICs and SoCs become increasingly sophisticated, these companies rely on even more improved capabilities in design software. ICs that at one time contained thousands of transistors now contain millions, compelling EDA vendors to continue developing software that expands the scope of chip design. This increasing complexity in integrated circuit technology requires sophisticated EDA tools such as provided by Magma - tools that enable design engineers to create products of ever-greater capabilities.
Magma's customers - among them Broadcom, Fujitsu, Infineon, NEC Electronics America, NVIDIA, Samsung, Toshiba and Texas Instruments to name a few - include the world's leading semiconductor companies, creating chips more advanced than ever before.
Magma Design Automation provides electronic design automation (EDA) software that enables chip designers to meet critical time-to-market objectives, improve chip performance and handle multimillion-gate designs. Magma software comprises a system that is integrated yet open, capable of reading and writing data in industry-standard formats. By providing unequaled automation, scalability and predictable results, iterations can be eliminated and time to market can be significantly improved. Magma’s complete RTL-to-GDSII design flows include design planning, prototyping, synthesis, test, place & route, signal and power integrity chip design capabilities in a single executable, enabling chip designers to “Design Ahead of the Curve”™. Magma’s software also includes products for custom/mixed-signal designs, physical verification, capacitance extraction; circuit simulation; characterization and modeling; and CAD navigation. Visit the Products and Solutions page for details on Magma software.
Chip designers can “Design Ahead of the Curve”™ with Magma’s truly integrated IC design system and highly automated flow. The Magma design system combines traditionally separate front-end and back-end chip design into an integrated flow that's designed to eliminate iterations between the synthesis and place-and-route processes, accelerate the design cycle and reduce IC development costs. Magma is also the first to combine analog and digital design into a single platform. Unlike other solutions, Magma tightly integrates mixed-signal implementation with digital implementation, circuit simulation, transistor-level extraction and verification – providing a quantum leap in efficiency and productivity for analog designers.
Magma's systems are based on a unique unified data model architecture. This is a key enabler of the system's ability to concurrently and automatically address timing, area, signal integrity, power and yield. Magma's unified data model contains all the logical and physical information about the design and is resident in core memory during execution. The various functional elements of Magma's software, such as the implementation engines for synthesis, placement and routing, and the analysis software for timing, delay extraction and signal integrity, all operate directly on this data model. Because the data model is concurrently available to all the engines and analysis software, it makes it possible to analyze the design and make rapid tradeoff decisions during the physical design process to optimize for better chip performance.
